Computing All Our Futures

In the 21st Century there is a new age of information and information systems – all of which can ultimately supply recipes for artificial intelligence.
In the 1990’s we are told, the US Department of Defense outlayed billions of tax dollars in an alleged attempt to find a solution to Turing’s Halting problem – they failed allegedly but encouraged a new ‘internet of things’ where your washing machine can enter into a dialog with your fridge-freezer and toaster.
I registered my solution to the Halting problem with an ISBN in 1991 !!!
So many experts in a domain dominated by the male ego have wasted millions of hours and billions of dollars and instead of coming clean – have simply clothed old paradoxes in new jargon. e,g, the so-called Kolmogorov Theatre Paradox – a name which sounds unorthodox – Russian and cool – is just a rescripting of the 19th century Hume’s Paradox of Induction.
Today we can see the cool coding kids elevated to Rock Star status in Elon Musk’s AI robotwars circus …
But getting some bits of junk to take a prolonged swipe at each other isn’t real artificial Intelligence at work.
Ultimately the greatest AI information system with the most possibilities, adaptations and deepest levels of meaning will certainly be the sort used by galaxy after galaxy of intelligent interstellar and interdimensional life.
In human imagination we confront ourselves via Hollywood with transforming shapeshifting robots and Borg-like assimilations via intelligent matrices etc but in truth the level of AI being produced and manufactured are relative mobile garden furniture ornaments compared to what some bunch of clued-up aliens could present us with.
There is a reason for that … our own stuff is full of logical and computational paradoxes.
no problem though – here’s the paradox-free universal ai system the new kids on the galactic block should have – after all our future depends on it ..
